WHO recommends use of two antibody drugs against Ebola The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday recommended two monoclonal antibody treatments against Ebola, saying the use of such drugs combined with better care had "revolutionised" the treatment of a disease once seen as a near-certain killer. ...The drugs - Regeneron's Inmazeb (REGN-EB3) and Ridgeback Bio's Ebanga (mAb114) - use laboratory-made monoclonal antibodies that mimic natural antibodies in fighting off infections.

WHO makes new recommendations for Ebola treatments, calls for improved access WHO has published its first guideline for Ebola Virus Disease therapeutics, with new strong recommendations for the use of two monoclonal antibodies.  WHO calls on the global community to increase access to these lifesaving medicines.

The clinical trials were conducted during Ebola outbreaks, with the largest trial conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, demonstrating that the highest level of scientific rigour can be applied even during Ebola outbreaks in difficult contexts. ...
