A Discussion Thread for the situation in Japan with respect to the Miyagiken-Oki earthquake (9.0 magnitude) and associated 10m tsunami, and its impact on the local nuclear reactors.

9.0 = 8 times 8.2 magnitude
I had read that Japanese nuclear reactors were designed to withstand at least 8.2 quakes.
9.0 = 8 times more powerful.
Thank God Japanese engineering high quality like IBM.
This could have been much worse.
